We’re thrilled to announce that acclaimed thriller and adventure novelist James Strauss has agreed to join the 2014 N-I-P Bookcamp staff as our second Author-in-Residence and Guest Instructor.
He will work with our registering writers all six days of the Bookcamp and take part in our day dedicated to the publishing industry. Jim joins our previously announced instruction team of Philip Martin and Reed Farrel Coleman for what we believe is an outstanding writing instruction team we can offer our registered writers.
Jim brings a keen understanding for the creative process and the skills needed to break into both the New York publishing and Hollywood TV and movies fields.
In addition to being a successful novelist with five espionage thrillers and two books in his Mastodon prehistory adventure series published, Jim is a well-regarded TV and movie screenwriter who has written for both the House and Deadwood TV series. He’s currently is the technical director for “The Equalizer” movie now in production and starring Russell Crowe.
Strauss is brash, open, and eager to help writers improve their work and advance their careers. In past lives he’s been a Marine officer, deep sea diver, shipboard physician’s assistant, pilot, and professor of anthropology. He currently writes for several Hollywood production companies.
